Payment fees per method in the Nordics
Every payment method costs something, and the cost differs per method. A shop that books one average fee for all orders hides which methods are expensive.
How Klirry models a fee
For each payment method you enter two things: a percentage of the order value and a fixed amount per order. The fee on an order is the percentage of the order value plus the fixed amount. If an order comes in with a method you have not set up, Klirry uses your default fee instead and tells you which method it did not recognise.
Klirry does not know your rates. The rates in your agreement with each provider are yours, they can change, and they can differ between merchants. This article does not state what any provider charges. Enter the rates from your own agreement and statements.
The methods
| Method | Fee model in Klirry | Where the real numbers come from |
|---|---|---|
| Klarna | percentage plus fixed amount, as you set | your agreement and settlement file |
| Swish | percentage plus fixed amount, as you set | your agreement and statements |
| Card | percentage plus fixed amount, as you set | your acquirer or payment provider |
| Invoice | percentage plus fixed amount, as you set | your agreement and statements |
The percentage and the fixed amount vary by your agreement, so look at the real figure before you trust any average.
Why per method
Two orders of the same value can leave a different contribution just because of how they were paid. When you split the fee by method, the profit of each order is right, and you can see which method to nudge customers away from. The true profit article shows where the fee sits among the other steps.
Put the fee of your most used method into the break-even ROAS calculator and watch the break-even move. The cost settings are described on the methodology page, and pricing covers what Klirry costs.
